We’ve been on the road for over 1 year and along the way, we rescued a a kitten named Scotia and a 1961 GM Bus. Enjoy our travel posts and stories, photos, videos and more!
What are the odds that the two of us would be born in the same hospital in Texas, leave the state around the same time and meet in Connecticut when we were 19 and 22 years of age? We’re not sure, but we find it pretty amazing that we both entered planet Earth at...read more
When we headed out of the little port town of Beaufort, South Carolina, we didn’t do much planning for our cross-country adventure. We pointed our VW bus away from the coast and just let our hearts be our guides. When we got tired, we looked up nearby state...read more
Before heading out of South Carolina, we decided to use the first few days of our trip to take a breath and shake off the residue of having lived and worked from a house for seven years, which is how we built The Lills Design and our 24-7/365 lifestyle. We made our...read more

We’ve heard a lot about how common grocery store fruits, like strawberries, are often covered in pesticides, genetically modified and look and taste different than what nature intended. We were really able to understand the difference when we visited our local...read more
For our fifth wedding anniversary, we headed to North Carolina to take in some mountain air. We boarded the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, enjoyed first class and took in some spectacular views, like the Nantahala Gorge. Although the water was noted as 32 degrees, we...read more
For our fourth wedding anniversary, we canoed 13 miles down the Edisto river in South Carolina to stay in an off-grid tree house with no electricity or running water. The river trip was beautiful and it felt freeing to be completely engulfed in nature. The little...read more
It’s absolutely amazing when the universe provides signs that tell us symbolically that we’re heading in the right direction. On our trip to Sarasota, Florida, we were tested the moment we arrived. The brakes on our VW bus went “spongy” all of...read more
