SMOKY MOUNTAINS TRAVEL VIDEO
Although the water was noted as 32 degrees, we plunged ourselves into white water rapids on a funyak, provided by Carolina Outfitters. Surrounded by stunning mountains and amazing wildlife, we made our way down the river to the landing. Right on the water were fun places to eat and relax. We played darts at Pizza by the River and had some North Carolina BBQ, while watching more funyaks and rafts take on the white water.
We drove on Lakeview Drive, also known as the road to nowhere, which led us to a scenic lookout and dead ended us at an incredible 1940′s tunnel that had never been completed. It was mystical and spooky being so far removed and high up on the mountain.
Our adventure continued with a quick stop at a local antique shop, horseback riding in the mountains with Lonesome Dove Stables and a wonderful stay at the Hideaway Cabin, provided by Bryson City Cabins. On our last evening we even got to experience fire fly season in the smoky mountains. We were surrounded and for miles we could see the lights blinking, like morse code. It was a beautiful way to end our anniversary celebration. See what happens next on our adventure here!
