THC (Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol)

by | Inspiration, The Lills

While in Colorado, we learned a ton about cannabis, the health benefits that come with it and how concentrated cannabis oils have proven to cure or control ailments such as cancer, asthma, Parkinson’s disease, MS and more.

The human body is designed with cannabinoid receptors. 2 types of cannabinoid receptors to understand are CB1 and CB2. CB1 is found mainly in the Brain and central nervous system. It’s also found in the liver, kidneys and lungs. CB2 is mainly found in the immune system and assists in the relief of pain. These compounds play a major role in maintaining our health. The receptors in our bodies are activated by Cannabinoids (either occurring naturally within the body or entering through ingestion or inhalation) and the body can then begin a beneficial chain of biochemical events.

Our receptor systems are ready to connect with THC (a psychotropic cannabinoid), like two puzzle pieces fitting together. The short term and long term benefits differ for each person, depending on their body chemistry. Some people find cannabis relaxes them, while others feel it can bring about anxiety. If you’re a newbie to cannabis, we’d recommend taking low dosages and trying a few different strains to find which kinds best fits you.

There are multiple ways to enjoy cannabis. Some people enjoy eating the leaves, which are non-psychoactive. Heat is required to allow decarboxylation to occur, which converts THCA to THC (Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol). You can use a hand pipe, water pipe, hookah or rolling papers to smoke it. There are tons of oils, tinctures, edibles and topical forms, like lotions, to choose from too. When cooking, try using canna-butter or oil instead of regular butter or oil. It’s a great way to get the healing benefits of cannabis into your food.

With time, you will find which strains of cannabis and which methods of smoking, ingesting or applying it is best for you. The two of us have found great joy using it when cooking, smoking it to get creative or relax, as well as ingesting concentrated oil regularly to heal. Our aches and pains vanished, our minds became super clear and we began to feel like little children again, full of energy. We’ve watched people young and old change their lives using cannabis and we hope more people will realize the healing properties and power of cannabis.
