ICE SKATING & SLEDDING | COLORADO WINTER VIDEO
There was an incredible frozen pond beside the inn we were staying at, so we picked up some old-school ice skates for $5 a pair at a nearby thrift store and laced up. The two of us got our bearings and whisked around the pond. Although the sun was out, it was still pretty chilly and the ice was super thick. We felt as safe as could be and decided to turn things up a notch.
At another thrift store in town, we were able to grab hockey sticks for $5 each. We didn’t have a hockey puck, so we got creative and used a tin can instead. There were already traffic cones on the ice, which made the perfect goal and we took turns keeping the net, as the other took their best shot. We had such a blast playing one-on-one on the frozen lake in Colorado and we will always remember the fun we had there.
Before saying farewell to winter, the two of us got in our VW bus and putted slowly up the mountain to over 10,000 feet. When we reached the top of the pass, we pulled to the side of the road and found wonderful hills with snowmobile tracks scattered about. We had picked up 2 simple, vintage sleds for a buck each and they were perfect for our Colorado sledding adventure. We hiked down the waist deep snow, across the open tracks of freshly fallen powder and picked the perfect slope to ride our little sleds down.
The entire winter we spent in Colorado was a breath of fresh air to us. With very little funds, we were able to stay, work and experience everything we had hoped to. We were reminded again, that with some patience, detachment and positive faith, we could manifest great things and go far.
