HEMP SEED OIL BENEFITS

After waking up about the reality of hemp and the roles it has played in our societies, we began doing more research into why this miracle plant isn’t in our day-to-day diet. The prohibition of cannabis hemp (1937) criminalized the plant and so, it’s once frequent and firm place in our diets and lives, had vanished.

Hemp seed oil has been called “nature’s most perfectly balanced oil” because it contains all of the known amino acids and it’s perfect balance (3:1 ratio) of Omega 6 to Omega 3 essential fatty acids. On average, a hemp seed contains around 30% of oil by weight and it is the only edible oil that contains greater than 80% polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. Hemp seed oil is not psychoactive and it contains high levels of vitamin E, plus it is known for its antioxidant and anti-aging properties.

Quality oil is extracted by cold pressing organic hemp seeds. All nutritious content is preserved by the cold press process, so it’s important to note the effect that heat has on our food. That may sound a little funny, but the introduction of heat (especially in oils) breaks down vital nutrients and frees up the bad free radicals. Eating live foods, which means no heat or no cooking, is our most efficient and healthy way to maintain well nourished bodies.

The two of us are integrating hemp seed oil into our daily diets, by ingesting a tablespoon in the morning and at night. We use it in smoothies and salad dressings, we apply it to our skin and we use it as lip moisturizer. We’ve learned, cold-pressed and unrefined plant oils are far better and more compatible with our bodies than processed oils, synthetic vitamins and minerals. The closer we can get to the source of the nutrients (whole food, plant-based), the more symbiotic the food is with our bodies.
