HAZELNUT PEAR APPLE PIE TREAT DAY RECIPE

Pie breaks have been a big part of our relaxation over the years, along with treat days. Sometimes we just need to unwind and have a slice of pie! This Hazelnut Pear Apple Pie is so comforting, made with organic pears and apples and an unbeatable hazelnut crust! Enjoy our hazelnut pear apple pie recipe below!

The Lills Food | Hazelnut Pear Apple Pie

Hazelnut Crust Recipe (makes 4 small muffin tin sized pies):
  • Combine flour, hazelnut flour, sugar, nutmeg and salt in a food processor
  • Add 8 tablespoons of cold butter 1 tablespoon at a time, combine until crumbly
  • While processor is running, add 4 tablespoons of ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time until dough becomes soft and clumpy
  • Combine dough together on a flat surface with your hands, divide into to pieces
  • Roll each into a ball and slightly flatten into a disc
  • Cover tightly in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour

Pear Apple Filling Recipe:

  • Peel, core and mandolin pears and apples into thin slices
  • Combine thin sliced pears & apples, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and flour into bowl
  • Some of the apples and pears may break while being tossed, this adds texture to the mixture

Hazelnut Pear Apple Pie Recipe:

  • Roll out first disc of dough into thin sheet
  • Cut generous circles larger than the muffin tin opening
  • Lay over and press into tin molds, press up the sides and leave a small rim to pinch the top to
  • Pinch and press to seal any cracks and try to make even thickness on bottom and sides
  • Fill each pie crust with filling to top
  • Roll out other disc of dough and cut thin tops the same way
  • Lay top over filling and pinch to sides of crust (seal completely)
  • Cut a small X into tops
  • Bake at 400°F for 30 min
  • Cover any darkening edges with tin foil and bake for another 20 min at 350°F (filling should be bubbling up a little and good color on the tops)
  • Let cool for 20 min
  • Remove by loosening with thin spatula

Hazelnut Crust Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons hazelnut flour/meal
  • 1 + 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 packed tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 8 tablespoons cold butter
  • 4 tablespoons ice water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Pear & Apple Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 + 1/2 ripe pears, 1/2 ripe apple
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon flour
