ARTISAN BREAD vs COMMERCIAL BREAD

by | Artisan Bread, Food, The Lills, The Lills Food

Have you ever heard of a German brotform? It’s a spiral proofing basket used to style rising bread. The coiled basket helps support the dough and results in a beautiful texture and look. This specific bread we purchased from an artisanal bread maker who explained the bread had no milk, eggs or oil, unlike processed bread. What makes it so healthy it is only made of water, salt, live yeast and the natural germ (seed embryo, good fat content) and bran (outer layer of grain, high in B vitamins). Most commercial breads lose the germ and bran when processed. We recommend everyone going to their local Farmers Market or bread maker and trying the difference!
